To whom it may concern,
I would like to express my support for keeping and preserving the old Bozeman Deaconess
Hospital on Lamme. A preservation-remodel or reconfiguring of this iconic downtown
structure is what is needed. Tearing it down would be a tragedy.
Buildings like these are what define a town - its character, history, and charm. The
immediate gains should not outweigh the long-term preservation of the community
and what makes Bozeman the charming place it still is.
I do believe our town will look back on these times and wonder why we let this
happen. How did we get marched upon in what seems a very covert and
concentrated money-making effort? How short-sighted it has been.
We need these structures, the open space, the historical reminder of what this
community has been. They are a living conduit to what we believe Bozeman has
been and a reminder of what to hold onto as we grow. Another high-rise luxury condo cannot replace this piece of Bozeman.
Please do not tear this historic building down.
