My comments are regarding the proposed rezoning for the Canyon Gate development. I am opposed to the
proposed re-zoning, specifically the B-2M Community business district - mixed (commercial) zoning. I
believe this designation does not belong in this area as it does not fit the character of the district's current
zoning. 5 story buildings belong in the downtown and commercial corridors of this town not plopped in the
middle of single family residential homes. I support building up and not out but this area is not an
appropriate place for building up to 5 stories. As a point of reference, I was not opposed to the Olive and
Black development because its downtown and an appropriate place to build up. It is not the same case with
Canyon Gate.
Our town is not in need of more large scale retail and hotels. I am not opposed to some commercial zoning
in this area, like B-1 commercial, and I am in support of townhomes and multi-family residential units as
long as they aren't luxury style vacation units.
As a 16-year Bozeman resident and a Bozeman business owner I urge the City Commisison to reject the
proposed zoning changes and require the developer to remove the request for B-2M zoning. Thanks for
