RE: Canyon Gate Annexation and Zone Map Amendment, App 21337 (Community Development) To City Commission Members: This email is intended to express my opposition to the zoning request by Homebase Partners to develop property at the intersection of Story Mill Rd and Bridger Drive. While I am notopposed to development of the site for residential purposes, I am very much opposed to commercial development and zoning changes requested by Homebase Partners to B2M,REMU, R5 and R3 zoning, This type of zoning would allow 5-story hotels and apartment/condo buildings, as well as massive 40,000 sq. ft. retail stores and is not appropriatefor the area. I have lived adjacent to this property since 2007 and have enjoyed watching children ride bikes, play in the park and play in the creek throughout the neighborhood formany years. It is a safe family-friendly environment which is hard to find these days and should be protected at all costs. This neighborhood has been established for many years andshould set the precedent for future development of the adjoining property. Many families have made significant investments to live in this neighborhood and raise their children in what hasalways been a family focused residential environment. Commercial development of the corner as proposed by Homebase Partners would invite more traffic into the neighborhood as well astransient visitors just passing through and would be a threat to the safety and current lifestyle enjoyed by thousands of my neighbors. Commercial development as proposed by HomebasePartners would also threaten the beautiful mountain views and quiet enjoyment of the neighborhood that currently exist within the area and would be a slap in the face to those thathave chosen to make this area their home. Please consider the existing homeowners and surrounding residential neighborhoods and deny the zoning request for commercial development by Homebase Partners.
