RE: Canyon Gate Annexation and Zone Map Amendment, App 21337 (Community
Development)
To City Commission Members:
This email is intended to express my strong opposition to the zoning request by Homebase
Partners to develop property at the intersection of Story Mill Rd and Bridger Drive. I am notopposed to development of the site for residential purposes, but I am however very opposed to
commercial development and zoning changes requested by Homebase Partners to B2M,REMU, R5 and R3 zoning, This type of zoning would allow 5-story hotels and
apartment/condo buildings, as well as massive 40,000 sq. ft. retail stores and is not appropriatefor the area. I have lived adjacent to this property since 2007 with my family and have enjoyed
watching the neighborhood children grow up, ride bikes, play in the park and in the creek formany years. It is a safe family-friendly environment which is hard to find these days andshould be protected at all costs. This is a very popular neighborhood and the proposeddevelopment will have a serious negative impact. That said, because of our neighborhood’s
reputation, it should be looked at as model for any new development on the corner. Manyfamilies have made significant investments to live and raise their children in this
neighborhood in what has always been a family focused residential environment. Commercialdevelopment of the corner as proposed by Homebase Partners would invite more traffic and
crime into the neighborhood as well as transient visitors just passing through and would be athreat to the safety and current lifestyle enjoyed by thousands of my neighbors. Not to mention
any commercial development as proposed by Homebase Partners would threaten our beautifulmountain views and wholesome family-friendly setting that currently exists. After talking to
many of our neighbors, we all agree that this proposed development would be a terribleoutcome for property values, safety, and quality of life that makes Bozeman such a special
place.
Please consider the existing homeowners and surrounding residential neighborhoods and denythe zoning request for commercial development by Homebase Partners.
Thank you,
