December 15, 2021 To: The City Commission Re: Canyon Gate From: Kim Ball To Whom It May Concern, This letter is in response to the planned development of Canyon Gate in my neighborhood. One of the reasons that my family purchased our home in this area was because of the openspace and rural feel. We have had deer, bears, and wild turkeys very close to our home. Mychildren ride their bikes to the creek to swim in the summer and I have felt safe about that dueto the lower amount of traffic in our area. They love seeing the animals around them and beingable to spend hours outside without city noise or influences. Any development in the areashould be low density, for the safety of the residents and the animals, as well as upholding ourcommunity goals. We must continue to provide adequate open space for wildlife corridors, asall the other area developments have provided. Another issue I have from the proposed development is how it will affect my ability to get to amedical facility in a short amount of time. The train comes often, and many times we wait 10to 15 minutes for it to pass. While we are waiting the line of cars extends well over a mile. Itcan take several turns at the light before we can get through town. My entire family hasalready noticed an alarming increase in traffic along Bridger/Rouse since 2019, and it willonly get worse the more our side of town is developed. My son has Type 1 diabetes, so beingable to reach the hospital in an emergency is extremely important to us. This side of town wasnot meant to be developed into a large resort/commercial/residential area the way the train cutsthrough town. I hope you will take into consideration what makes Bozeman great before developing itfurther. The animals, open spaces, hiking trails, family environment will not be the sellingpoints for long if you take them all away. Deny Canyon Gate. Sincerely, Kim Ball 790 St Andrews Drive Bozeman, MT 59715
