Please Deny Canyon Gate
I am writing to express my concerns with the HomeBase Partners’ requested rezoning of 24 acres at the
corner of Bridger and Story Mill and to ask that it be rejected.
The HomeBase proposal has many flaws. The key issues from my perspective are:·
It is designed to appeal to part-time, vacation rental type luxury buyers and out prices our local workforce
and full-time residents who actually live here.
<!--[endif]-->There are substantial infrastructure issues caused by the railroad tracks (what about ambulances
and people going to work waiting long times for trains to move?) that will become even worse with higher
population density. Perhaps the developer should pay for an underpass or a bridge?
This is not the right location for hotels, large retail stores and multi-story apartment buildings. The transition
from nice single family houses to 6 story buildings is too sudden, especially in an area hemmed in by
mountains and hills. The transition should be more gradual to preserve the character of this side of town.
Let’s support development plans that actually help solve problems, like the availability of affordable
housing, instead of catering to the wealthy.
