Hi! I am reaching out about the many safety issues on Oak street. Probably the most pressing one is the
intersection at Flanders. Other major areas of concern are the cross walks from the 100 acre park that cross
Oak. I was told these crossings are called Double Jeopardy because the pedestrian needs to be certain that
all lanes of traffic have stopped before crossing. I was involved in a very close call at one of these cross
walks where the person in the far lane was texting and driving and did not see me. He had to divert last
minute onto the curb to avoid collison. Please consider flashing lights at these crossings.
In addition, I know that there is a plan in place to divert Baxter during the construction of the roundabout
at Baxter and Cottonwood. It sounds like this project will take upwards of 8 months. I do hope the
commission is involved in the decision of how traffic will be diverted and take serious consideration into the
effects on the neighborhoods. I am sure you are aware that Baxter is like a highway with heavy loads of
traffic and fast speeds.
Thanks for all you do and considering how to keep us all safe on the roads and in the neighborhoods. Kim
