Commissioners and Staff,
I have been trying to get a four way stop at the intersection of N. Bozeman and E. Lamme.
The construction of the high-rise on the SE corner and the impact on street parking has made
visibility almost impossible for traffic on N. Bozeman. A temporary four-way stop was installed at
the intersection this summer then removed. I do not understand how the intersection of Beall and
Montana warranted a four-way stop but Lamme and Bozeman did not. Renegade parking by
patrons of Dave’s Sushi has always been a problem but the addition of the construction traffic (soon
to be replaced by customers, tenants and visitors of the new high-rise) has made the intersection
even more dangerous. I know that the city is experiencing staffing shortages but this is
fundamentally a health/safety issue and should be a top priority. Expanded dining capacity at Dave’s
Sushi, the high-rise and the coming winter driving season guarantees that under the current
situation someone is going to get hurt, the only question is how badly. If the city is going to
continue to relax parking requirements the need for more four-way stop intersections will increase.
Thank you,
Brian Leland
