Dear Bozeman City Commissioners; As a citizen who has lived in our town for 36 years, I would like to express my strong support for the City of Bozeman to adopt a CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms ofDiscrimination Against Women) Resolution or Ordinance. The U.S. has failed to acknowledge and ratify a national resolution in support of CEDAW-- an international United Nations treaty introduced and adopted by the U.N.'s General Assembly in1979. Much like the Equal Rights Amendment, which has yet to be adopted in the U.S., this treaty guarantees the rights of and legal equality of women and girls under the law. As you know, numerous cities and states have taken steps to adopt local resolutions andordinances to move this agenda forward. Equal rights under the law for more than half of the population. Concerned local citizens have dedicated hundreds of hours of their time to draft a thoughtfuland inclusive CEDAW resolution proposal for your consideration; a proposal that will facilitate community safety, economic security, and the health and well being of not onlyBozeman women and girls, but all citizens. The proposed Equity Indicators Analysis will help to draw a clear and broad picture of both obvious and hidden inequities which exist in ourcommunity as well as offer guidelines for further action. I ask that you represent Bozeman by joining other forward-thinking communities and seriously consider adopting the CEDAW Resolution which will have numerous positiveimpacts for thousands of our citizens. Thank you, Betsy Danforth1021 South Tracy Avenue Bozeman, MT 59715bemi@gmail.com
