To the commissioners: First of all, thank you for the work you do. I closely followed the
recent election news articles and the campaign materials I received in the mail. I have livedin Bozeman for 21 years and aside from the way the zoning was changed to B3 a number of
years ago, I commend the commission for the hard work of doing your job in a rapidlychanging community. I do not think the commissioners are responsible for the rapid growth
and lack of housing. However, in all the time leading up to the election I never saw anyattention addressed to the number of vacation rentals in our town. I am in favor of allowing
people to build an ADU but you must be realistic in knowing that the majority of ADU's willbecome legal vacation rentals. (99%?) Now you propose to allow larger ADU's and I fear
that means yet more of our dwindling urban forest will pay the price. All for vacation rentals. What I am wondering is if you have any one monitoring stand alone vacation rentals? Do
they all fit the requirements? How many hundreds of homes have become vacation rentals? Does anyone know?
