The North Central Master Plan is very nice. However, what percent of the rental units proposed in the
North Central development underway by HomeBase Partners are for affordable rental housing for those in
our community making between 50% to 80% the area median income (AMI)? (That's a single person
making approximately between 33K - 49K a year.) The definition of affordable is not spending more than
1/3 of your monthly income on housing. Folks in our community making less than 80% of AMI are being
pushed out of the rental market. We are losing young professionals. We don't have affordable housing for
our teachers, health-care professionals, college professors, librarians, service workers, and other essential
folks who make up a vibrant and diverse community. We need more affordable housing and less high-cost
rentals.
