Re" Project # 21337
Dear Commissioners:
I urge you not to allow the current plans of Home-Base Partners to proceed.
There are zoning and development rules in place for a reason. Do not overturn them because of a
perceived need for more housing in Bozeman. To do that is to damage Bozeman. That is not the right
way to solve a housing shortage.
This proposed development would change the character of the neighborhood. This is a family
neighborhood with single houses and a few town houses, one or two stories high at most. The
developer proposes 5-story hotels, 60-foot apartment buildings looking down on the houses, 40,000
sq. ft. retail spaces. What will this do to the neighborhood? To the entrance to Bridger Canyon? To
the traffic--particularly during ski season? To the wildlife? To the water supply? To Bozeman?
Please have the developer propose a lower-level, lower-density project with more green space.
