I urge you to deny the application of HomeBase Partners, project 21337, for annexation and zoning of land
at the intersection of Story Mill Road and Bridger Drive. The proposed zoning is completely out of place
with the present character of Bridger Drive; it is currently a transition zone from suburban, with modest,
mostly one-story houses, to semi-rural, as Bridger Drive continues to Bridger Canyon. Multistory buildings,
up to 60' tall, and intensive retail development are not appropriate there. The large, glitzy apartments
would be unaffordable for most Bozeman residents, the scale of the buildings would dwarf the surrounding
homes and small businesses, and the impact on traffic would be considerable. As you know, railroad tracks
bearing long coal trains cross Rouse, the only real north-south street nearby, cutting off access for
emergency vehicles to the area for long periods.
The substitution of cash-in-lieu of parkland for actual open space in a development of such density is not
acceptable.
In short, this application is inappropriate for the area and way too grandiose in concept for Bozeman itself,
and I urge you once again to reject it.
