Dear City Commission, Planning & Zoning Board members,
I am writing you today to express my extreme opposition to Andy
Holloran's latest development proposal on the corner of Story Mill and Bridger Canyon Drive.I have several reasons why I am opposed to this project.
First, this project will not alleviate the dire housing crisis in Bozeman. Like other Hollaran
projects, buyers for these units will likely be out of state, second/third home buyers and willmore than likely rent their condos on VRBO and Air B&B geared to ski tourists. The ownders
will visit for a 2-3 weeks a year. They will more than likely not be primary residents.
Second, the city cannot keep moving the goal posts on zoning. People buy in an area with thethe understanding that zoning is supposed to be consistent and permanent. Please stop moving
the goal posts on people who are making huge financial decisions, much of which is their soleretirement plan. The proposed site is mostly, if not all, single family homes.
Third, this is a very sensitive wildlife area with lots of deer, elk, bear migrating through
this corridor. To turn this corner into a massive high-end development goes against everythingthat is in the community plan regarding prioritzing the small town feel that protects
environmentally sensitive areas in Bozeman. Why, then, did you even bother with thecommunity plan if you aren't going to use that as a decision making guide?
Fourth, the train tracks make this area particularly vulnerable to delayed emergency response
times.
This project should clearly not be approved.
