Hello Commissioners,
For the past 18-20 months, the noise pollution from loud pipes on trucks and low slung cars has made living
near the center of town unpleasant and stressful. As I write to you, it's another Thursday evening when,
even though my windows are closed, I'm having a hard time concentrating. I have two jobs, and it's hard to
accomplish the work I need to to while cars and trucks roar up and down Main and 7th. It's incredibly loud.
This is a new feature of life in town. Over my life, I lived on Lamme, then Bonner Lane, then 3rd. This new,
pervasive noise pollution is not typical of Bozeman.
During the summer, my friends and I could not sit in my yard most weekend evenings and have a
discussion. It's like we live next to a drag race venue.
I imagine there are noise ordinances, or maybe just one, but I wonder why, if it exists, it isn't enforced. Is
there something I can do, as a citizen, to figure out how to mitigate this problem? Thanks for any
help/guidance.
