Casto - Mountains Walking 21319From:Molly Casto To:Agenda Subject:public comment re: application 21319 (rezoning) Date:Monday, October 25, 2021 2:25:49 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. To Whom it May Concern, I am writing today in support of Application 21319 - the proposal to rezone the residential parcel located next to Mountains Walking Brewery in downtown Bozeman. While on it’s face, I imagine there may be concerns over a business encroaching into a residential area, this proposal is actually a wonderful fit for this mixed use, light industrial location. The goal of this rezoning proposal is to enable Mountains Walking to expand the brewery for the purposes of office space and some employee housing. Both of these uses are compatible with abutting neighborhoods. It’s no secret that the housing market, especially housing that’s accessible for those in service industry jobs, is dismal in our town. For a locally owned business to want to create housing options for their workers is a perfect reason to approve this application. In addition, we should enable them to have the office resources they need to manage their successful growing business. Mountains Walking is a great local business - the food is excellent, the beer is delicious and innovative and the owners live in Bozeman, support the local economy, volunteer actively in the community and have kids that attend Bozeman schools. This proposal is intended to bring the existing parcel up to a highest and best use by supporting the growth of the business in a way that isn’t detrimental to abutting residents (adding some offices) and will provide some needed housing for service workers that is sorely needed in our community. Sincerely, Molly Casto 1451 Maiden Spirit Street. Bozeman, MT 59715
