Egnew - Gallatin County Rest HomeFrom:Gerrit Egnew To:Agenda Subject:ZMA 21-330 Date:Tuesday, October 19, 2021 12:41:30 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. My name is Gerrit Egnew. I moved to the neighborhood around my house (1406 Juniper St) in 2018 and have lived in Bozeman since 2012. I am writing to oppose the zoning change in our neighborhood, as someone invested in the long term cohesion and livability of the area. Most of my neighbors oppose this, and I think the agreement of current residents should not be disregarded. The neighborhood is nice because of its quiet, almost old-Bozeman feel, rather than being an obviously new and anonymous development. We walk our dogs together in the field, spend time in the community gardens, and bike and walk to each other's houses. I moved to this neighborhood just before another friend from college, and now there are four or five people I studied with who live within a couple blocks. We are the new long-term Bozeman residents, and we will remain invested in the community and it's politics for our entire lives. The County has done zero research on how this change will affect existing neighbors. We would like to preserve the character of the neighborhood as it is. The only action proposed in the Application is a daycare. Daycares can exist in R3, so why the need to change it to R4? Most importantly, the Rest Home deserves a long-term, responsible funding solution, not a bandaid, throwaway solution of a land sale. The Commissioners may only be interested in getting to the end of their respective political careers, but we want robust communities with good end-of-life care for our old folks. Lastly, where will the peacocks live? Thank you for your consideration, Gerrit Egnew
