Dear Commissioners:
Homebase has been allowed to turn downtown Bozeman into " anywhere USA" for no one's
gain but their own. Is there no way to rein in this developer? Why are they given so manyvariations and allowed to go against the Bozeman Community Plan on each of their projects?
* They disregard residential neighborhoods, adding congestion and traffic, blocking sunlight
and mountain views, denying any kind of reasonable transition from high-rise block buildingto streets of traditional - and often humble - homes.
* The housing they do build serves the wealthy, not the middle class and working class ofBozeman. They further exacerbate the housing crisis as they push people without great wealth
out of town. Many of us wonder who the new residents think will serve them at Bozeman's"trendy restaurants and shops" when they can't afford to live here.
* Homebase seems to get its way while ignoring the concerns of neighbors aired at so-called"listening sessions." It's a pattern and leaves citizens feeling powerless.
Too much is too much. Beyond this project, we're starting to hear about plans for Homebase to
leapfrog over to the Story Mill area with some really out-of-place "urban" design. Please dowhatever you can to stop this company from entirely ruining Bozeman. Their "vision" is in
direct conflict with the best interests of the City.
Thank you for your consideration of my comments.
