Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you
a good fit for this board.
I have been on the Bozeman Planning Board for the last 5 1/2 years and have served as its Chairman for the
last 4+ years. Although my prior experience was as a business attorney, not a planner, developer or
consultant, my time on the Board has given me a good high level understanding of the many community
development issues facing Bozeman.
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
Gender: My wife and I have two grown daughters and three young granddaughters. We only produce girls
in this family. I suggest that this gives me more than a little skin in the game concerning gender issues.
Race: One of our daughters is married to a black man, the son of a former Sierra Leone ambassador to the
United States. Their daughter, one of our grandchildren, and a child I dearly love, is thus of mixed race.
More skin in the game.
Sexual orientation: I could not care less about a person's sexual orientation.
Indigenous peoples: I have little personal experience with indigenous peoples, and it's a failing. on my part.
I am on the board of a non-profit organization that is in the midst of developing DEI policies and am
involved in the oversight of this work.
