Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you
a good fit for this board.
I have always strived to stay actively engaged within my school and local communities. Having held multiple
leadership positions in various organizations and student governments throughout my schooling, I feel as
though I have the potential and experience to take my leadership to the next level. I am currently a fourth-
year student at Montana State University and I serve on the Executive Council of the Associated Students of
Montana State University (ASMSU). In my previous two years of involvement with ASMSU, I have had the
opportunity to represent student voices in Helena by testifying during the previous legislative session, been
responsible for managing and distributing student fees, and making changes within the campus community
that my constituents want to see. Additionally, I am the Director of The HEART Initiative, a non-profit
organization that raises awareness about human trafficking in Bozeman and beyond. In this position, I have
learned how to collaborate with my team members to host events and how to facilitate challenging
discussions surrounding human trafficking. Born and raised in Bozeman, I have seen the changes that the
city has undergone over the previous twenty years. I cherish this community and want to play an active role
in maintaining its charm and uniqueness while it endures the growing pains of rapid change. Bozeman has
been my home for my entire life, and I want to play a part in making it feel like home for everyone of every
background.
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
All of my leadership experiences have allowed me to engage with individuals of different sexual
orientations, political affiliations, and racial and gender identities. I value these interactions because I have
experienced first-hand the productive outcomes of diversity of thought and experience. In brainstorming
for new projects and ideas for any organization of which I am a part, the more diverse the group is, the
more productive the discussions and creative the outcomes. In a continued effort to be an LGBTQ+ ally, I
have participated in “Safe Zone” trainings at the university to ensure that I am someone that individuals of
all sexual orientations and gender identities feel comfortable engaging in conversation with. I have also
collaborated with individuals in the Diversity and Inclusion Student Commons at MSU for projects, events,
and trainings with HEART and ASMSU to not only improve my understanding of DEI, but of others’ as well.
