Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you
a good fit for this board.
I am a person who is always looking for challenges. I like solving problems and I love working with people.
As I age I am developing a stronger need to be involved more broadly. I love Bozeman and it's surrounding
areas and am excited to participate in the work of readying us for the future while improving the present. I
like to learn. My work as a leader in my organization has given me the ability to identify current state and
ideal state and work with teams to figure out what steps to take to get there. I also recognize that we have
a lot of opportunity in the next few years to make a significant difference to the future of our community.
Work Experience:
Registered Nurse since 1998
Registered Nurse - Family Birth Center at Bozeman Health since 2000 (with the exception of 2003 and
2004)
Registered Nurse - at Denver hospitals 2003-2004

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Bozeman Health - 2010-2020
Program Coordinator for Bozeman Health Forensic Nursing Program (2016-2019)
Nurse Manager - Family Birth Center - Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital January 2020-present
Education:
Bachelors of Science in Nursing - Baylor University - Texas - May 1998
Masters of Nursing - Clinical Nurse Leader - Montana State University – 2016
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
In my previous role as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) I worked diligently with community teams to
improve services to victims of violence in our community. The understanding this work has given me of
trauma, discrimination, justice and injustice and how to meet people where they are has been a gift to me.
The idealist in me wants to see a city where everyone has the ability to get past mere survival and reach
whatever their potential is. I want children to be safe enough to have hopes and dreams. The realist in me
knows that life has plenty of ditches a person can fall in as they are trying to just live. I am committed to
learning about the experiences of minorities. I try to read what I can to learn and engage in meaningful
conversations when I can to learn.
As a nurse I understand about human needs for safety and have a strong history of work in the field of
trauma. In addition I have participated in a Community Advisory Board for several years with sociologists at
MSU, specifically working to address Secondary Trauma in Victim Service Providers, so that they can better
serve their clients. These roles have given me perspective into the role that trauma plays in the lives of our
citizens, including discrimination that people face based on their gender, sex, orientation, race, socio-
economic status etc.... I believe that working on this board would help me extend the work I did as a SANE,
making this city a safer place for everyone. We have amazing people in Bozeman and are truly blessed to
live here.
