(○) 11 years or more Have you ever served on a City or County Board or Commission? (○) No Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. I was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana and grew up in local low income housing. After graduating from Bozeman High School, I started an internship for the Kamala Harris Presidential campaign. There I helped write the Native American Advocacy Plan. While reviewing this policy, how it would affect Montanans was at the forefront of my mind. This policy plan was then transformed into the Biden Harris administration and used nationally today. I am currently attending Montana State University, while also organizing with local groups like the Montana Democratic Party and Bozeman United. This organizing has allowed me the experience of spending the past two years directly talking with Bozeman locals on the issues they care about and what they need from city government. As a young, Indigenous person I am a voice that the Bozeman Advisory Board has not constantly seen but is a voice that is vital to the Bozeman Community. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. As a Indigenous person growing up in a predominantly white community i've experienced the full range of what it means to be engaged in diversity, equity, and inclusion. I’ve experienced the reality of what it's like to be a person of color in our community. From ignorance and microaggressions to blatant discrimmination. I have been directly impacted by many of the issues that diverse groups in Bozeman have faced. References: Please provide name, phone, and email contact information for two references.
