(○) No Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. To start I would like to describe my background with relevant experiences that make me a good fit for this board. In my professional experience I have worked for the Montana DNRC as a Wildland Firefighter/Forestry Technician. In that role I learned the importance of our impact on land and community. It also really sparked my personal desire to seek out professional roles that I felt helped people in some capacity. I also worked in Washington D.C. for Senator Baucus as a Legislative Correspondent. In that role I worked on issue areas such as small business, veteran affairs, and agriculture which I felt were important areas for Montana. My responsibilities included researching and staying current with the issue areas and legislative initiatives encompassing those areas. I also had correspondence with constituents about questions or concerns regarding the Senator’s position on issues important to them. The ability to have a dialogue was important for both sides. I am currently a Commercial Lender for a Community Bank here in Bozeman. I work to build relationships with business owners in the community with the goal of helping them succeed financially. In my current role I have seen the impact of Community Housing or lack of Community Housing in the Bozeman area. I have worked with business owners struggling to hire enough employees to keep the doors open. I have worked with builders that have expressed obstacles that prevent keeping final prices lower. The Economic Development covers so many faucets however, the continued growth of our homegrown businesses and industries will play an important role. As a commercial lender my goal is to be actively engaged in our local business community. I am currently a Co-Chair of Leadership Bozeman through the Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce. In the banking industry we take Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion matters seriously and take proactive steps to ensure our environment is safe, welcoming, and inclusive. This has mostly been accomplished through training. I have taken some form of diversity, equity, and inclusion training at each Financial Institution that I have worked. This would include Wells Fargo, US Bank, and Bank of the Rockies. I believe this would give me some perspective on the topic in the workplace. In feel Public Art goes hand in hand with culture and adds value to our community. My experience with art in any form is mostly if not entirely personal interest related. In my recent change in role to a Community Bank I have been striving to be more active in the Bozeman Community. I recently have volunteered with Leadership Bozeman, the BOAR run, and Fix It Up Festival. I feel this helps keep me in tune with the Community. I am very interested in preserving the quality of life in Bozeman, while responsibly managing the inevitable growth that will occur in such a great place to live. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. As I previously mentioned, almost every employer that I have worked for has required some form of diversity, equity, and inclusion training. That includes corporations such as Wells Fargo and US Bank. However, the efforts don’t seem to be fully hitting the mark beyond regulation. Outside of conversations and reading articles on a personal level I have not engaged in activities directly addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion. I am looking forward to the Community Roundtable on Equity and Inclusion later in October. I plan to register when registration opens.
