(○) 1-5 years Have you ever served on a City or County Board or Commission? (○) No Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. As a business owner, a young professional, and someone with a background that combines a business school background with years in the food and beverage/hospitality industry I understand the importance of sustainable growth for our community. This board has five focuses- Community Housing; Economic Development; Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion; and Public Art. I have worked in Big Sky, been a long time resident of Montana, and have directly seen the impact as an employer and manager that lack of affordable housing can have, it's a very complex issue, but one I see as critical for the health and growth of our community, and one which is excitingly complex. Economic Development is something I think of every day, I strive to make my business more successful, and that comes from making a work environment that makes my employees more successful, in terms of wages and more, I believe the health of Bozeman's economy is directly tied to the health and happiness of those working here. DEI is a big issue for me, as a proudly out member of the LGBTQIA+ community I want to do everything I can to make this the most inclusive, accepting, and equitable community it can be. I think the first, and easiest step in having such a community is having representation and leaders of diversity that hold these values. Now, I am certainly no art expert, but I appreciate all the community does with art, all of the community togetherness and happiness that it brings. In as much I would be so excited to help keep that community art thriving. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. As I mentioned above I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and it hasn't always been that way, so I would say first and foremost I have that unique insiders perspective on being gay in Montana and what that means. Growing up with that I had to learn to accept and love myself for it, and that means loving and accepting others, I have fortunately been taught all my life that we are all the same, all equals. I think diversity is one of the most beautiful gifts a community can have. Though I haven't had any formal DEI training or courses for it's understanding I have always actively tried to listen to, to engage with, and to support members of other "minorities" if you will; I guess I could say I have always tried to be an ally like those that have been an ally for me. Speaking up when I see or hear something that is unfair, unjust, or biased, but speaking up in a respectful, calm manner. Trying to educate myself and those around me of the plight of others and what we can do to help our neighbors, not for gratification or kudos, but for the betterment of this crazy world we all live in.
