Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. Over the past 26 years as a resident of Bozeman I have actively worked with various City and County planning departments on a variety of planning, assessment, review, and data development projects. Most recently, I served for approximately 3 years on the Recreation and Parks Advisory Board, where I acted as Vice Chair for two years. I have helped the Gallatin Valley Land Trust in creating their trail maps, kiosks, stream restoration and outreach/education materials associated with trails, planning, and easements. I served on the board of Wild Things Unlimited, where I assisted with reviewing data collection, analysis, and presentation strategies for their carnivore studies and citizen science outreach efforts. I served as president and treasurer of the Bozeman Masters Swim Team and as the elected treasurer of the Montana Association of Geographic Information Professionals. As a professional geographer and GIS mapping specialist with over 27 years of experience on land use planning, environmental studies, and management alternatives throughout the western US, I often bring a unique perspective to discussions. Locally, I am an advocate for ensuring that Bozeman’s current growth trajectory and associated development is done with informed decisions to protect the quality of life that brought myself and others here. My volunteer experience to date has been diverse and I hope to continue my involvement and contributions. Since stepping down from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, I have been looking for an opportunity to make a broader impact locally and help guide informed decisions within my own community. Serving on this board would be an honor. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. Diversity in all forms is essential to a vibrant community. Equity across the board for pay, opportunity, and growth should be a given. While I have not gone through any DEI training, I try to live my life, personal and professional, to support these goals. I’ve supported the City’s efforts along these lines.
