(○) No Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. As a self-described soil nerd, I truly believe that if we save the soil we can save the world! I also believe measurable action is needed to drive sustainability and change on a global scale. As an active member of my agricultural community I see this position as a critical leadership role in creating a more resilient and equitable food system that we can continue to draw from. As such, I am eager for an opportunity to leverage my skillset as a part of this board. My technical background in soil science, sustainability, and agricultural education have taught me that how something is done is critical to accomplishing a goal; integrity and results go hand in hand. I have designed a soil carbon monitoring program for a grass- fed cattle ranch, conducted graduate research assessing the determining factors in producer decision making and chosen agricultural practices, and taught Sustainability in the Hospitality Industry at MSU where I was able to expose students to the value of objective investigation when designing solutions to sustainability and climate change issues. It is this philosophy of integrity that guides my value system and planning process. My most recent professional experience regularly put in situations where I need to multitask and prioritize in a high-pressure environment, be solution oriented—with attention to detail—when various needs are brought to me, figure out how to address each issue simultaneously, and assess what needs will arise in the future. This experience has taught me a great deal of empathy, and the importance of communication, teamwork, and fun! I have been able to hone my decision-making skills as well as discover how my strengths fit into a team. Additionally, the necessary planning required to implement a composting program with 130 employees at the busiest restaurant in Montana taught me how to develop relationships to obtain buy-in, construct training programs, and assess factors for long term success. It is here that I also initiated and assisted with project management for the installation of a 50kW solar array. I regularly strive to find ways to help people reach a broader understanding of how we can heal our planet, am naturally curious about our environment, and love to dissect how things work. I look forward to hearing from you. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. Independent study and reading, mostly specific to the food system. I am always eager for more. References: Please provide name, phone, and email contact information for two references.
