I received a Master of Science degree from MSU as Environmental Engineer. BS in Civil Engineering. I then took a position at the US Environmental Protection Agency Montana Office in Helena. I served EPA for 31 years. During my career, I specialized in air pollution, followed by pesticides, toxic substances and asbestos. Then more than 10 years as drinking water specialist as well as water and wastewater grant administration. I joined the Bozeman Climate Partners immediately following retirement, In January 2012. I have volunteered for the work group since that time. I also represented them on the Bozeman Climate Team in 2019/20. I provided substantial input and comments during development of the Bozeman Climate Plan. During my later years at EPA, I felt that humanity’s greatest challenge and issue was and is human caused climate warming and desired to contribute in some way. Being a white male, I do consider myself a feminist and believer in equal rights for all ethnicities, income levels and gender orientations. As a Bozeman Citizen, I am proud of the diversity of the current City Commission and desire that our community treat all with fairness and respect. I often donate or maintain memberships in numerous non-profit organizations, particularly conservation groups and civil rights groups. I look forward to post-pandemic times when I might attend meetings in person with these groups. I am concerned with the current local and universal housing crises and desire that all city decisions serve I also learned to speak and communicate in French and participate in several local French language groups. I have studied a number of times in France and consider the language a portal to a portion of the non English speaking world. I am a lifelong student of all aspects of francophonie, having commenced my studies as an adult. I had substantial dealings and duties regarding environmental protection on all Montana Indian reservations. I am familiar with their cultures and their problems. I am proud that the Montana universities work hard to serve the native community and desire that Bozeman support and accommodate our native population.
