Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you
a good fit for this board.
I am a young person living in Bozeman. I organize with Gallatin Valley Sunrise and the Gallatin Democrats.
Sunrise, is made of young people who are faced with a drastically different future than we were promised
when we were kids. But, we organize together because we know government at every level can change
this. We can address the climate crisis while creating more security (attainable housing, public transit, local
food systems...) and social services (education, healthcare, mental healthcare) for people. The hope of the
climate crisis is that in transforming our relationship to resources we also learn to structurally care for one
another better.
I am qualified to serve on the Sustainability board because I am wracked daily with the all too daunting
reality that I will not be able to care for my (hypothetical) children the way my parents cared for me - that
my life and the life of those younger than mine very well might not resemble anything familiar. This
awareness is what we must be listening too for it is what will help our cities create solutions that are bold,
resilient, and meet the immediacy of the threat. If I am not chosen for this board, I do hope that it is
because folks even younger than I have been given this opportunity instead!
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
The Sunrise movement asks all hubs, leaders, volunteers cultivate and ground in a shared understanding of
justice, equity, and anti-oppression (JEAO). I have taken trainings with the Sunrise folks from across the
country as well as engage in conversation with my peers in Bozeman. As political youth engagement
continues to grow and youth led organizations deepen their roots, I must continue to interrogate my own
biases and listen to experiences outside of my own. I work to confront internalized structures of oppression
(either/or thinking, top down leadership, perfectionism, urgency/scarcity mindset), share leadership and
decision making, and continue personal education. I understand that this work is ongoing and look forward
to opportunities within structured trainings as well as in my daily life.

Is there any other information that you feel we need to know?
I moved to Bozeman at the onset of the pandemic in March 2020 to live with my parents. I had no idea that
I would not be going back to my previous life anytime soon. I do not because I feel the urgency of the
multiple crisis we face AND I feel the potential in a small, growing city like Bozeman. At this scale we have
great power in how we work together.
I also want to mention that though I have only lived here full time since March 2020, my parents have lived
here for many years and I have been coming to Bozeman much of my life.
If you have a disability that requires assistance or need accommodations, please contact our ADA
Coordinator, Mike Gray, at 582-3232 (TDD 582-2301).
Please note that for most Citizen Advisory Boards, materials are distributed electronically for each
meeting.
Your application and all information submitted is considered a public record. All applications are
included in the City Commission’s Meeting materials for consideration which are electronically
archived and available to the public.
Thank you,
City Of Bozeman
