I have a lot of passion and interest in helping our city and its leaders create policies that can maintain
what’s working in our community ( ie. Pete’s Hill, community gardens, trails, parks) while also working to
establish new policies that will help with climate change and all our new growth. I have three children and I
am very aware and concerned with what we’re facing with climate change. I would certainly love to help
make a difference with our cities action plan.
My experience that would be helpful to the board was as a volunteer parent at Irving elementary school. I
created the gardens on the corner of eighth and Alderson with the help of parent and teacher volunteers.
To help to teach our kids how to plant their own food decrease their impact on climate and environment by
growing food instead of a lawn . This also helped to connect us with the community at large ( parents
neighbors and master gardeners who volunteered in the summer ) and especially the MSU community who
we invited in to partner with us in our lessons regarding healthy food and agriculture. The gardens also
became a place where the kids stopped before school and after school to grab a snack or look at their hard
work that they had put into growing food :-)
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
I feel equally passionate about equity and diversity in our city. I feel so grateful that my children had the
opportunity to go to Irving elementary where they could make friends from all over the world including
many of the Native American tribes from all over Montana. I was a volunteer involved with international
days that we celebrated every year. I have much to learn in this arena and I welcome any education to help
our city move forward.
