(○) No Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. Sustainability seems to be the thread in the fabric of my life. I am passionate about many aspects of sustainability and often find myself engaging in groups and activities on that vein. For years I organized Farm to School activities at our elementary school, Longfellow. Inheriting the leadership role, I experimented with a variety of activities to get kids engaged in local food, from growing vegetables in garden boxes outside the school and hosting local chefs to cook with the kids, to providing healthy, locally sourced snacks for school events. Through that adventure, I connected with the Open and Local Coalition, participating in events organized to bring awareness of sustainable food systems, practices and businesses here in our community. I started my own small business, preparing locally sourced food for sale at markets through the Bogert Farmers' Market and the Western Sustainability Exchange. In the winter months I find myself working at Bridger Bowl. While my role really has nothing to do with sustainability, I do enjoy engaging with a wide variety of people. And when others bring up the topic of the solar panels outside Deer Park Chalet, or the change in our service ware to sustainable products, composting, carpooling, public busses, and water use, I truly engage. Just the idea of how fragile our environment is, the threats of wildfire, the possibility of a bad snow year, or many years of limited precipitation...I want to be engaged in our future, the future of our community, and how we preserve the things we love. I also have kids, which means I have a big investment in the future, their future, and their kids' future. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. In order to expand one's understanding of anything, one has to first listen. I feel that I listen a lot. Tuning in to local and state news on a daily basis, I get a sense of what is going on around us. Not being a native Montanan, I take with me my experiences from many other places, but am always interested in hearing the perspective of others. Whether I agree with others' ideas or not, I do make every effort to understand where they are coming from. I've learned a lot, and have evolved quite a bit too, by engaging with a variety of individuals. I support those individuals and businesses that support others. through acceptance, equal opportunities, living wages, and regard for the community and our environment.
