Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you
a good fit for this board.
Sustainability has been a long time interest of mine; as I've gotten older and had more experience with
brands, products, systems, and their impact on our environment I've been working to learn about what I
consume and how that impacts not just myself and my family but the world.
For the past 2 years specifically, I've learned a great deal about sustainability and made changes in my
personal life, and my family's life, in order to make less of a negative impact on the environment. I've
learned that not only are sustainable choices better for the environment and personal health but
economically speaking they tend to be more cost-effective and these benefits are seen almost immediately.
Since learning that it has become my passion to help others see that sustainability doesn't have to be
difficult or extensive, and actually makes life easier in many ways!
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
In my mind, we are all human beings, so being close-minded about someone's life experiences is one of the
worst things anyone can do. We are all born into different circumstances and those play a role in how we
see and experience the world - be it your race, whether or not you have a disability (physical or mental),
whether you are young or old, whether you are from a different country, etc. So many different factors
shape us.
I personally enjoy learning about these different experiences, be it through reading, social media,
documentaries, or through actually talking to someone about their life. Learning these perspectives is
important to me because I believe it leads to a more accurate worldview and a better understanding of
how to make an impact on our community as a whole.
