WELCOME
Thank you for your interest in joining a Citizen Advisory Board. The City of Bozeman elected officials
and staff believe in the value of public participation and local governance in the decision-making
process and encourage all interested members of our community to apply. As set forth in Resolution
5323, the City is committed to building Advisory Boards that advance the City’s goals of increasing
diversity, equity, and inclusion. Because of this goal, the City is actively working to achieve
membership that reflects, at the least, the demographics of our community. Women, minorities,
individuals with disabilities, veterans, and other underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

effort necessary to ensure the successful functioning of such agency (Bozeman Municipal Code, Section

Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you
a good fit for this board.
I have attended the City of Bozeman's Climate Partners group off and on for a number of years. I also
founded Gallatin Valley Earth Day in 2019 (along with a few other community members). I am the chair of
this non-profit organization. See www.gallatinvalleyearthday.org for more information about this
organization.
I have worked closely with about 50 non-profits and individuals in our community who are concerned about
our planet and sustainability to put on dozens of events in our community, including the 2019 Earth Day
Festival at the Bozeman Public Library, a planned (but cancelled due to COVID-19) huge 50th anniversary
2020 Earth Day 2-day celebration and festival at the Emerson Center for the Arts & Culture, a 2021 Earth
Day festival at the Bozeman Public Library, an Earth Day in the Parks 2021 event (at StoryMill Park and the
Gallatin County Regional Park) in addition to starting an annual Earth Day run in 2021 in partnership with
the Big Sky WindDrinkers running club, hosting dozens of in person and online talks and events whose
subjects ranged from a cooking demo and panel discussion on how to use local foods for your Thanksgiving,
to "Landscaping for Birds", to the effects of climate change on your health, to "Wind Energy Basics", to
"Zero Waste Living", to hosting a number of free movies for the community including "2040", "A Time to
Grow", "The Story of Plastics".
I have worked with the City of Bozeman's Water Conservation Division, Sustainability Office, and the Parks
Department to involve them and promote their programs at Gallatin Valley Earth Day events.
In addition:
I am a member of the Sacajawea Audubon Society's Conservation group.
I am a member of the Bozeman chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby.
I am a past member of the Bozeman Sierra Club's Climate Justice group.
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
I have marched in a number of Social Justice marches in Bozeman and attended a number of their rallies. I
have been a member of the Sierra Club's Climate Justice group.

As the chair of the Gallatin Valley Earth Day, I am active in planning the 2022 Gallatin Valley Earth Day
celebration, festival, and fun run. The festival will be held at the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture on
Friday, April 22nd and Saturday, April 23rd, 2022.
Gallatin Valley Earth Day is also involved with supporting Earth Day activities throughout the Gallatin Valley
in West Yellowstone, Belgrade, and Manhattan.
