(Some positions do require you live within Bozeman city limits while others do not.) (○) Yes How long have you lived in the Bozeman Area? (○) 1-5 years Have you ever served on a City or County Board or Commission? (○) Yes (If Yes, where and how long?) Beautification Board (2 years) Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. I was a previous member of the Beautification Advisory Board. I left to relocate for a year and have returned to Bozeman and would like to rejoin this modified advisory board. I am excited to continue to assist with the clean-up day and sustainability-focused efforts for the City of Bozeman. I work in the design industry, with a focus on landscape architecture including municipal park and urban projects. I am also a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Bozeman and a member of a fundraising circle within One Valley Community Foundation. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. Equity is critical to local government and there is a long history of inequity and barriers to progress toward equity and inclusion through outdated policies and procedures. I have made it a priority to educate myself and learn about cultural sensitivities on a macro and micro level. I grew up in a very diverse island community of Key West where the Mayor adopted the official "One Human Family" motto when I was young. The meaning behind the motto is that everyone is equal regardless of race, nationality, sexuality, and other differences. That these differences are superficial distinctions and cannot be allowed to be twisted into cultural divisions. My passion for DEI is justice-driven. We all have a right to improve and participate in local government, however, we do not all benefit equally nor do we all have equal opportunity to participate in making change. I want to be a part of strengthening our inclusive community of Bozeman. References: Please provide name, phone, and email contact information for two references.
