Bozeman is at a critical point in time where the current transportation structures are beginning to be
stressed by the exponential growth of the metropolitan area. Now is the time to began brainstorming and
planning creative and implementable solutions.
My bike instructing knowledge as well as past residency in efficient multimodal communities is a great
knowledge base for advising on and creating multimodal transportation solutions. Additionally my position
as a high school bike coach and my experience in many community bike programs has given me insight into
dynamics of inter-transport relationships such as those between bikers and vehicles or pedestrian and
bikers. I grew up the son of an environmental architect and then obtained a Masters in Cell Biology and
Neuroscience, these experiences have helped me become an analytical and systemic thinker. I understand
that city infrastructure is complex & intersectional and would seek to find a balance between readily
implementable solutions and those which will require collaboration and long term planning with many
other aspects of Bozeman's infrastructure.
I view city transportation through a lens of system sustainability via efficiency & longevity. As someone who
has used and observed Bozeman's pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure as a student, a bike coach and as a
bike commuter I have seen the need for it to be more efficient, robust and safer. Investing in and
promoting multimodal infrastructure within city limits will reduce the single occupancy vehicle traffic and
better the social and environmental landscape of Bozeman and I am ready to help and advise in any way I
can.
The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have
engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI.
I coach the high school mountain bike team through an equity, inclusion, respect and community oriented
team structure and this has helped me view more of my life and community through a DEI lens . Over the
last couple years I have taken efforts in educating myself to the barriers to inclusion that minority groups
experience in almost all aspects of their life and I have engaged in conversation with peers and co workers
on how to address those barriers both systemically and in our own roles in our community.
