(○) Yes How long have you lived in the Bozeman Area? (○) 11 years or more Have you ever served on a City or County Board or Commission? (○) No Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. My parents were National Park Service Employees, so I spent my formative years growing up in various National Parks, primarily Yellowstone. I developed a deep respect for nature, and came to understand its importance in our lives as humans. My family moved to Bozeman when I was 11, and I appreciated the continued presence of old trees, trails, and mountains on the horizon. I believe that as our city grows, it’s paramount to our health, happiness, and safety that we maintain parks and walkable green spaces that accommodating too all. This is not a contrary stance to expansion or development, but a commitment to incorporating both harmoniously into Bozeman’s future. I have a BA in Liberal Studies from MSU, where I delved into a variety of subjects but focused primarily on writing and research; I would be happy to put those skills to use facilitating communication and informed decision making. Finally, at 26, I am young, quick to learn, and have a future I want to work towards. I have put down roots in Bozeman, and wish to make this city as wonderful for everyone as it has been for me. I am invested in this town’s wellbeing by both necessity and choice, and hope that I can put my experience, knowledge, and determination towards helping all that call Bozeman home. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. I am a firm believer in supporting and elevating voices from marginalized communities; I include discounts for such individuals in my own business practices, and actively seek out under represented creators in my choices of media. I have also attended rallies with Bozeman United for Racial Justice, and joined online LGBTQ+ social groups. I have donated to charities and non profit organizations such as the NAACP LDF. Ultimately, however, I believe my most important skill in this regard is my willingness to admit when I have held a harmful point of view, and confront my own biases. It’s a lifelong practice to uphold. I myself am also part of a few minorities; I am a non-binary/gender fluid individual, and have a hearing disability for which I have had to receive accommodations. I also struggle with mental illness. References: Please provide name, phone, and email contact information for two references.
