(○) Yes How long have you lived in the Bozeman Area? (○) 1-5 years Have you ever served on a City or County Board or Commission? (○) Yes (If Yes, where and how long?) RPAB - 1.5 years Please describe your professional and personal experiences, interest, and qualifications that make you a good fit for this board. I have worked on collaborative natural resource management in my career for much of the last decade. In addition to work, I have served on public/private stakeholder management boards for national forest planning, recreation interest groups, and local governments. I have specifically served on 2 local government parks boards, the Bozeman RPAB, and the Los Alamos County Parks and Rec Board. I also served on the RPAB PROST sub-committee and would be interested in seeing that effort through to completion. I have a personal interest in stewardship of open spaces, and have found that opportunities to serve my community are extremely insightful and rewarding. As a local citizen I use our parks and open spaces daily and believe they are a treasure for the Bozeman community, creating space to enjoy nature as well as foster community. The City of Bozeman strongly values diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Describe any efforts you have engaged in to expand your understanding of DEI. I have personally sought to understand and promote DEI, believing that a plurality of ideas, experiences, and world views contributes to a more resilient understanding and approach to our communities and the challenges we face as both individuals and together. I have worked extensively with other cultures, from serving overseas with the Peace Corps, to integrating user groups into collaborative efforts looking at US Forest Service management. The Peace Corps gave me perspective on always being the "other" and the daily challenges associated with working to integrate into a different cultural. Working with diverse ideological stakeholders on land management issues taught me the value in finding commonality and the potential for better outcomes when people can come together around a shared set of goals. I believe my experiences have allowed me to better understand and support Bozeman's efforts at DEI. References: Please provide name, phone, and email contact information for two references.
