Dear City of Bozeman,
I am writing as a citizen of Bozeman who is concerned about development I see
happening downtown that is not consistent with the local area nor with the community
plan.
I would like to oppose The Ives building due to several concerns I have about what is
being proposed:
A six story building in a residential neighborhood is inappropriate. This will
change the character of the neighborhood for all the single family homes in the
area. The location it is being built was zoned residential until recently and
should not have been changed.
The one and two story homes nearby will be dwarfed by this building and have
their neighborhood permanently changed for the worse.
I fully oppose Homebase's request for cash in lieu of the provision of parkland
for this development. This parkland is needed to keep with the character of the
neighborhood it is joining.
They should not be given a variance for the villard driveway access - this is a
safety issue. This size building will already be greatly increasing traffic in that
area - it is in appropriate to let them do that in an unsafe way. The driveway
should be located a minimum of 40 feet from the alley intersection as per
exsting code.
Please listen to the people of Bozeman and honor the community plan to encourageBozeman's sense of place, to keep neighborhood's unique characters and history as
well as keeping Bozeman neighborhoods a safe place for all.
