The design included an area for support that includes two training rooms, a kitchen/day room, a fitness room, and locker rooms. The training rooms for the Fire Department will also serve as meeting rooms for community activities. The Worland FPD Station #1 was designed in the late 2000’s in an effort to procure ARRA funding through the Firefighters Grant. A requirement of the request for this grant money at the time was that the fire station must be designed to a minimum Silver LEED Certification. This project was registered and started design documentation for the pursuit of LEED Silver. Some of the LEED Certification highlights were high-energy efficiency mechanical systems dedicated to both the apparatus bays and the administrative areas. Other sustainability features include daylighting throughout, even in the apparatus bays, energy-efficient lighting, water-efficient landscaping, previous parking areas outside of the apparatus bay aprons, and construction materials specified with high-recyclable content that is also durable. Our roots trace back to founders Ralph Cushing and Everett Terrell, who established Cushing Terrell in 1938 in Billings, Montana. Their vision was to forge one of the first integrated architecture and engineering firms built on innovation, integrity, and client service. More than eighty years later, our culture still embodies its vision of entrepreneurial spirit, high-performance, and providing the best client experience possible. Though we call upon the strengths and resources of our 375+ employees in 13 locations, including 66 LEED Accredited Professionals, the Bozeman office is staffed by dedicated Montanans. Our culture has grown from our client focus instilled by our founders, Cushing and Terrell. We design sustainable spaces that promote collaboration, creativity, productivity, flexibility, and fun. The Cushing Terrell team of talented individuals brings our clients expertise and commitment. We have the courage and imagination to turn technological potential into the promise of a better way of living and working. We thrive on the energy inspired by collaboration. As architects and engineers, we know that our surroundings determine who we are, our senses of self and well-being, and how we work with one another. Our culture is one of openness, integrity, and responsibility to each other and our environment. Our culture values connections to our communities, to our families, and our individual life goals. Great design is a creative response to circumstances. It’s the project’s circumstances that make them unique and influence the outcomes of any design solutions. For fire stations, these influences generally include: ·Site and Environmental Conditions ·Community Context ·Image/Client Vision ·Program ·Budget ·User Expectations ·Security and Safety Concerns ·Regulatory Issues ·Sustainability Goals Our work does not promote a particular engineering system or architectural style. Instead, we strive to give purpose and meaning to our designs that are original because of their place. We achieve this through an artful integration of all design disciplines (architecture, interiors, civil, landscape, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, roofing and building enclosure, and low- voltage audio-video) and sustainable, synergistic strategies. The results are timeless designs that use regional materials appropriately, employ energy-efficient systems within the framework of passive solutions, are sensitive to their context, and are narratives for their place and function. Considering the different disciplines, stakeholders involved, and the project’s value, this task will need critical attention to detail and communication. Our approach to the management of this project during each phase will center on communication by using the following techniques: ·Identification of the chain of authority for the fire district and Cushing Terrell Team for the project. ·Identification of other stakeholders from the community, regulatory agencies, and other local districts. ·Frequent summary sessions include fire district personnel’s input and design team thinking to encourage open communications and continued design development. ·Presentations to the fire district, stakeholders, and the public to keep them informed and engage them in the project process. Cost and Budget Reviews Cushing Terrell has developed a successful Cost Control System that the team has used previously to control construction costs and change orders on projects. First and most importantly, there must be strong communication and participation of all disciplines in project budget issues and constraints. Secondly, the team produces construction documents that are complete, 18CITY OF BOZEMAN | FIRE STATION 2 RELOCATION Commitment to the Environment clear, and well-coordinated. Thirdly, we back this up with consistent monitoring of project cost estimates throughout the design process. This process keeps the team and the client informed of market conditions and changing site conditions. Sustainable Practice As part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership, Cushing Terrell invests in Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) for 100% of our operational power needs—accounting for all 13 of our offices and every remote team member. Quality Management /Quality Control Cushing Terrell has an outstanding record of schedule and budget adherence due to the application and execution of our Quality Advancement and Management Plan (QAMP). Our Quality Control procedures serve to improve the quality and clarity of the documents continuously. Cushing Terrell has developed written Quality Control procedures that all team members utilize throughout the design process. At defined milestones, all work is reviewed, with the aid of written criteria and checklists to assure complete and accurate documents. Suppose the project is executed in a BIM format. In that case, we utilize clash detection routines to proactively find conflicts in coordinating the drawings across disciplines and quickly correct them before a document is issued. 71 LEED® certified projects Platinum ........................4 Gold .........................24 Silver ..........................21 Certified ......................22 66 LEED® accredited professionals 13 EPA Green Chill certified projects 9 Green Globes certified projects 10+ Green Globes professionals 3 WELL accredited professionals 19CITY OF BOZEMAN | FIRE STATION 2 RELOCATION Our “Perceived” Weakness Are we local?
