Executive Summary To: City of Bozeman Bozeman Parks & Recreation Parks and Trails District I Landscape Maintenance Services Zone 2 PO Box 1230 Bozeman, MT 59771-1230 February 22, 2021 Greater Gallatin Contractors, Inc. (GGC) has been providing professional landscape and irrigation services in the Gallatin Valley for over 17 years; and we pride ourselves on providing quality services to our community, which lies in commonality with The City of Bozeman’s mission. It is our ability to provide a comprehensive approach to all services, including the Landscape Maintenance and Irrigation Maintenance for Zones 1 and 2, with the knowledge and expertise to complete each of the items in the proposal. GGC would be a single entity, streamlining communication for the Parks and Recreation Department. For determining the mowable turf and areas to trim, GGC pulled up each city park listed in Zone 2 on the Bozeman GIS interactive website and measured the acreage for each area that appeared to be or was determined to be turf. This acreage was also used in determining fertilizing cost and time. By using the latest technology in the green industry, GGC will be able to provide high quality maintenance for the City parks, which we recognize as a symbol for the love of the outdoors that many Montanans share. Prepared with 96” mowers, 56” mowers, weed whips, and backpack blowers, two maintenance crews, who combined have nearly two decades of mowing experience, will be able to complete a high standard of work at all the parks listed in Zone 2 within one weeks’ time. One additional crew, having a state of the art, stand on Z-sprayer / spreader at their disposal, will have the ability to complete the fertilizing and weed spraying in the determined areas in a precise, and swift manner. While the measured acreage from the Bozeman GIS website was used in determining fertilizer usage, the area determined for Broadleaf Weed Control included not only the maintained portion of the parks, but also much of the native grass areas, naturalized areas, and trails. While measuring, GGC made sure to leave typical industry standard buffer zones around lakes, ponds, creeks, and streams. Weed spraying and fertilizing will be done in a manner that has minimal inconvenience on people and pets recreating in the parks. Signs will be posted around every treated area giving people information on the application and timing. With a knowledgeable, licensed spray crew which has a combined pesticide spraying experience of more than 16 years, we will be able to determine the best products to use, and when and where to use them by actively monitoring for invasive and unwanted weeds and pests. For maintaining the beauty of the park, GGC fully understands the importance of maintaining a clean, sanitary, and tidy environment. We will provide the crews with a large dump trailer, ample trash and dog waste bags, and personal protective equipment to fulfill the responsibility of trash and dog waste removal at the parks. This will be done at least once a week, or more often if necessary, for each park listed in Zone 2. All garbage and dog waste will be legally and responsibly disposed of off-site. At GGC, we understand the importance of communication. Besides providing a dedicated Service Manager, if awarded the contract, we will utilize cloud-based software to share real time details with the City. We would provide scheduling of when each park would be mowed, fertilized, and weed sprayed, as well as any issues that we find and address within the park. This will allow the City to have all the knowledge needed to answer any questions that arise.
