Attached is a photo of a recent traffic jam caused by the train on Rouse. I am sitting at the
corner of Peach and Rouse. As a resident in Creekwood for the past decade, I have seen
dramatic changes occur in our neck of Bozeman, some good and some not so good. In early
2011, we scoured the area to find what we considered to be one of the best parts of the valley
and chose to build our home in Creekwood for its unique attributes. It sits at the gateway to
the Bridger mountains with all of the recreation and beauty that goes along with it. It has
always felt, and in my mind should continue to feel, like you have left the hustle and bustle of
Bozeman as you drive out Rouse/Bridger drive and cross Griffin. It's here that spaces become
a bit greener, the Bridgers in the background beckon your attention, and life starts to slow
down, even if it's just a little bit. Unfortunately, over the past decade with the growth of
Bozeman traffic has easily doubled and waits for the passing trains have become more than
just for the trains. We frequently sit for 15 minutes or greater, see attached photo, to make it
past the lights and tracks due to the backup of traffic. I shudder to think of what might
happen if the EMS was caught in this. There just isn't the infrastructure to support additional
high-density housing such as that proposed by Canyon Gate (how about a bridge or underpass
for the train tracks?!) . It would continue to degrade our quality of life, as well as that of the
wildlife that frequents this corridor. This is a special place and it should continue to be so in
the future by keeping our open spaces open, and keeping development to minimum and in
line with current R-1 and R-2 zoning of the adjacent properties.
Thank You,
Greg Swica
