The canyon gate development absolutely should NOT be re-zoned to commercial or anything other than single family homes. This area of Bozeman is not in downtown, it isn’t even in city limits. This neighborhood is quiet, and safe for the many children who live in it to ride bikes and play. If we wanted to live downtown next to high rise buildings and stores we would live downtown. This is a neighborhood for people who like a quieter country setting that is safe for our children. There is also the very serious traffic issue that you would be causing by re-zoning this area. Getting kids to school in the morning is already difficult. Then the train traffic. It is sometimes backed up all the way to Legends already. Then there is powder day traffic to Bridger bowl! I have had it take nearly an hour before after dropping children off at Hawthorne in the morning to get back to Legends, because cars are backed up that far. There is no way we can handle 500 condo units plus businesses and all the traffic those will bring. There are also entrances planned to this proposed development off our 15 mile per hour alley in Legends. That is once again not safe for the children and pets in our neighborhood. We already have problems with people speeding down the alley. If you agree to re-zone this area, you be disrupting and ruining the feel of the area and causing traffic problems. You will also be proving to the local people in Bozeman that you value out of state developers and their money over us. You would rather ruin our neighborhoods than simply make the right choice and say no. You would be putting us right downtown where we don’t want to be. This neighborhood should remain single family homes as it has already been. That is the only thing that makes sense. I hope you can see that. Please listen to the people who live in this neighborhood and would be very negatively impacted by this, none of us understand why this is even a possibility. I would also like to point out that this re-zone has been kept too quiet, and feels very sneaky. I spoke to my neighbors on Bridger Drive who don’t live in Legends, and they were not informed that a massive re-zone was being considered which is very slimy considering it’s directly behind their homes, and affects them greatly.
