I live in this area, along Bridger Drive in one of the houses on the north side that was constructed in the 1960s. I am extremely concerned about the proposed higher density development. I regularly walk past the field where this development is being considered. Not only is there a beautiful cottonwood stand that acts as habitat and a wildlife corridor for deer, turkeys, raptors and other animals but this proposed development would completed change the character of the surrounding neighborhood. While I understand the need for additional housing as Bozeman grows, this proposed residential area will likely not be any sort of affordable housing. Once again, it will further gentrify the city, making it accessible only to those in the higher income bracket and servicing only those in a higher income bracket. In addition, this will lead to increased traffic along residential streets, and more traffic along Bridger Drive (which is already incredibly busy). I feel as if this proposal has little consideration for the existing character of the surrounding neighborhood and the design seems like it's aimed to maximize developer profits. I would like to see more of the development dedicated to open space and the conservation of some of the existing wildlife habitat. I think this can be done, while at the same time providing housing and commercial spaces. It may not be as dense as the developers would like but it would go along way with regards to conserving what makes this area of Bozeman so desirable. Thank you for your time and consideration.
