Dear Commissioners:
The juggernaut that is HomeBase Partners continues to chew through Bozeman with high-end developments that seem the antithesis of smart growth, straining our resources and adversely impacting quality of life for humans and wildlife alike.
One of the commenters on the NextDoor threads on this new development and some pungent and appropriate statements regarding HomeBase Partners:This developer has shown their disregard and greed in the ordinary ugliness of its construction projects now pervading the historic downtown in the flaunting of design standards, creating a Geography of Nowhere. This HomeBase land grab is a real estate version of the Anaconda CopperCompany that destroyed Butte, extracted all the wealth it could and then left Montana with an environmental and social disaster ongoing.
I concur with Daniel Gaugler who made the original post about the Canyon Gate proposal, and his summary comment:I am not against development of this area but would expect it to be more in line with the adjacent neighborhood or provide a transitional buffer between low density family housing and high density residential and commercial space. I see this proposal taking little consideration of existing neighborhood to maximize developer profits.
