Holmes, Director of Public Service RE: Project Completion Report on East Gallatin Crossing Water Main - City of Bozeman This project was satisfactorily completed and accepted as of June 23, 1983. The project was needed to replace a portion of main feeder from Lyman Creek where it crosses Rocky Creek. A section was torn loose during the flood of May 1981. The design was by Thomas, Dean and Hoskins on a lump sum of $1,800, Final construction costs were $21,420. by Underground Construction of Bozeman and the final inspection fee was $1,500 as agreed upon. The total project costs were $24,720, which does not include administration. Problems encountered during the project were: 1. The lock joint pipe supplied by Pacific States was poorly manufactured and did not meet specs. Shop drawings were submitted after the pipe was delivered and there was reluctance on the part of several people to reject the pipe and with some work can the pipe and assurances by the company. the pipe was used in the creek bed. 2. Dave Hough met with Fred Nelson of the Fish, Wildlife and Parks and 3 agreed to dam and pump the stream because the water was low. The delay in accepting the pipe was enough with unseasonably warm weather j for the creek to rise to a point that pumping was not feasible. Mr. Hough failed to inform Mr. Nelson of a change in plans and although he did the best job he could, the Fish, Wildlife and Parks fined the City $350 for violating the permit. The $350 was deducted from Mr. Houghs final payment. 3. The City valve was leaking and it was difficult to get a pressure test on the line, The test was finally completed to the satisfaction of the consultant and the City Engineer. 4 C! 4,
