Water oos Cost : Funding : Prepared By : Larry Woodward Reviewed By : Craig Brawner Description and Justification : Purchase and installation of 3 pumps. These are replacement pumps for pumps originally installed in 1952. One of these pumps has a broken case. Replacement parts are difficult if not impossible to acquire. Alternatives : Continue to provide equipment maintenance dollars for repair and maintenance of outdated equipment. Advantages of Approval : Provide additional fire protection with up to date equipment. Impact on Future Operating Budgets : Operation of pumps even on a limited basis will require new lab space. Water damage potential and noise would make use of this building as a lab impossible. Would also probably require updated equipment at Lyman Creek Reservoir, up to and including filtration equipment. Contact time could become an issue. 1f pumps are to be run on anything more than a temporary basis, additional water will be needed. The pumping capacity of the pumps is 1900 GPM. Approximate maximum flows as of 12-19-97 Winter - 700 GPM, Summer - 1100 GPM (flow information provided by Doug Kurk). These flows vary from year to year. In addition, use of the pumps will require increased maintenance dollars in operational budget due to possible lead joint repairs needed from water hammer damage. Cost Estimate: Pumps: $25, 617. 00 1 - 4" @ 7, 589 . ea. 2 - 6" @ 9 , 014 . ea. Installation and Appurtenances : 25, 000. 00 Engineering (15%) 7, 500 . 00 Total: 58, 125 . 00 I Cr ltll , `Ce G.
