Box 1147 Bozeman, MT 59771 RE: Lyman Creek Dear Steve: The following comments are provided in response to your respective RFI. 1. July 24 — Sheets S-2, C-2: The inlet pipe to the reservoir is shown on the wrong side of the reservoir on Sheet S-2. Please refer to sheet C-2 for the appropriate location of the inlet pipe penetration and step down wall and footing as indicated on Sheet S-2. 2. July 24, 2002— Sheets C-1, S-2, A-5, S-4: You will remove four (4) 10'0" sections from the reservoir walls. The north and south sections are for the vestibules. The east and west sections are to allow for you to climb out of the reservoir when you fall in. Nothing is to be constructed in the east and west side cut outs. The sidewalk and fill between the footing walls and the reservoir walls will need to taper down to the 5019' elevation. Similarly, at the vestibules, the concrete sidewalk and fill will need to taper down to the floor elevation of the vestibules. The purpose of the sidewalk is to cover the soil. The difference in the elevation of the sidewalk between sheets S-4 and 5/A-5 is that the sidewalk must slope down to the 5017.9' elevation at these locations. 3. July 24, 2002 — Section B/S-5: Yes, the wall is centered across the bearing pad as shown in your sketch. 4. July 22, 2002 - Reservoir wall and footing dimensions. The footings and wall sections are not the same all the way around the basin. The drawings are correct in identifying the footings and wall sections as 1'10" and 10", respectively on the short sides of the reservoir (north and south sides). The footings and wall sections on the long ends of the reservoir(east & west sides) are 1'0" and 2'0", respectively. The drawings you indicated are not showing two different dimensions for the same item. They are two separate locations requiring different dimensions. 5. July 22, 2002 — Catch basin inverts. I reviewed the catch basin inverts for CB-1 and CB-2. Build according to the revised invert elevations provided in my previous response to your RFI with the same question. July 23, 2002 — 1/S-5 Isolation Joint Material. Use 3/8" Bituminous fiberboard as manufactured by Celotex, or equal. 7. July 23, 2002 — S-1, S-2 — Control joints. Provide control joints at a maximum of 25' intervals. Please provide submittal for proposed method/material for providing the control joint. 8. July 24, 2002 —Spec. 02651. The missing pages of the referenced specification are attached. 9. July 24, 2002—C-5 Liner Fasteners. The liner will have an 8 oz. geofabric under the liner to protect the liner from abrasive areas of the structure. Therefore, most of the existing fasteners will not be a problem. Remove the fasteners that still have liner material attached, or are already loose, and any others that are not flush with the concrete. Mortar the holes closed. If you have any further questions please give me a call. Sincerely, HKM ENGINEERING INC. Kevin R. Jo on, P.E. Construction Manager Encl.
