1. Call meeting to order at 6:00 PM via WebEx
2. Disclosures
3. Changes to the Agenda
4. Public Comment
Ralph – I think you would have the option to continue BABAB after the boards have
been consolidated. You can present your issues/thoughts to the commission at their
meetings as members of the public.
DISCUSSION: staying informed without the staff liaison would be a challenge.
5. Action Items
E.1 Citizen Advisory Board Consolidation (Delmue and Lonsdale)
Update: city is on board with the proposal coming out of city manager office. Looks like
the transportation super board will be formed. See information in memorandum on this
topic. City manager met with some board chairs to get feedback. Previous board
membership will not count towards tenure-ship. More information will be available
online tomorrow for a meeting occurring next week on Tuesday, August 10th.

6. FYI/Discussion
1. F.1 Updates from Staff(Lonsdale)
Griffin Drive – under construction on west end near Mouse Ln(??). Businesses
along construction area still open.
Parks Recreation and Transportation Plan – a consultant was chosen (*** and
Sanderson Stewart). Presentation to Commission on August 17th.
Transportation Demand Management position – Candace Mastel has been
hired to fill the position.
Streets Update – Maintenance and paving on Westridge; maintenance occurred
on E Griffin
Wilson & Garfield Crossing – meeting with NW energy to see about providing
power to the project. Might discuss installing street-lights at that crossing.
Moving along slowly but surely with hopeful completion by next summer.
Peach & Rouse thoughts – the rework seems like it could be a good solution at
other locations. Positive feedback from board members.
2. F.2 Board Member Topics(Delmue)
Barton – are there final agendas we should try to be accomplishing?
DISCUSSION:
- Do we create some sort of document to pass along the hopes and dreams
of BABAB? Or some sort of document that would help the new
transportation super board understand the history of BABAB?
- Timeline for resolution of current boards and transition to the new
boards might happen in November of this year.
- Gallatin Valley Bike Club might be something to explore for those wanting
to stay involved. They have a good newsletter and email list.
- Kudos to Taylor for his advocacy for cyclists that will continue after
BABAB is gone. Board members feel good about Candace also joining the
city staff.
7. Kristin moves to adjourn at 7:04pm. Seconded by Jason Delmue.

Memorandum
REPORT TO:Bozeman Area Bicycle Advisory Board
FROM:Taylor Lonsdale, Transportation Engineer
Jason Delmue, BABAB Chair
SUBJECT:BABAB Ongoing Role
MEETING DATE:September 1, 2021
AGENDA ITEM TYPE:Citizen Advisory Board/Commission
RECOMMENDATION:As suggested by the Board.
STRATEGIC PLAN:4.5 Housing and Transportation Choices: Vigorously encourage, through a
wide variety of actions, the development of sustainable and lasting housing
options for underserved individuals and families and improve mobility
options that accommodate all travel modes.
BACKGROUND:Continue the discussion about how the Bozeman Area bicycle community
can continue to have a voice for that specific, focused "interest" and how to
impart the legacy and critical work of BABAB with the new Transportation
Advisory Board.
Previously discussed ideas are:
(1) To see about having the Gallatin Valley Bike Club advocacy component
step in to fill this role (perhaps with participation from current BABAB
members). The GVBC has a large membership base and is open to anyone.
It fills several biking-related roles in the community, one of which is
advocacy. And, as with most grass-roots efforts, with some concerted effort
from a critical mass of organizers -- marshaling the knowledge and
participation of the GVBC community -- much can be accomplished.
(2) To see about affiliating or participating in some capacity with Bike-Walk
Montana regarding the Bozeman area.
Additional ideas will be discussed.
UNRESOLVED ISSUES:None identified.
ALTERNATIVES:None identified.
FISCAL EFFECTS:None
