1) Maximum rise is 7.75" and min. run is 9", measuring from the nosing projection.
where there is no nosing, the minimum run is 10"

4) The greatest riser height within any flight of stairs shall not exceed the smallest by
more than 3/8". The greatest tread depth within any flight of stairs shall not exceed the

Handrail Notes:
1) Provide handrail on the inside wall of stairs as per applicable code
2) Handrails and extensions shall be 34-38" above nosing of treads and be continuous.
3) The handgrip portion of the handrails shall not be less than 1.25" nor be more than 2"
in cross sectional dimension. See section R311.7.8.3 for alternatives
4) Handrails projecting from walls shall have at least 1.5" between the wall and the handrail
5) Ends of handrails shall be returned or shall have rounded terminations or bends
General Code Notes:
1) NEC250.50 Verify location of concrete encased electrical services on foundation plan
2) IRC 611.5.4 Vertical concrete reinforcement is to be secured in place for inspection
prior to pouring of concrete footings and foundations on foundation plan
3) R207.8 Flashing in following locations: a) Top of windows & doors. b) at intersections of chimneys,
masonry, and wood with frame or stucco walls. c) Under and at ends of masonry, wood, or metal
copings or sills. d) Continuously above all projecting wood trim. e) Where exterior porches, decks or
stairs attach to wall or floor assemblies of wood frame construction. f) At wall and roof intersections.
g) At built-in gutters. h) Between concrete porches/decks and wall sheathing
