The property at 114 E. Beall Street is a single-family residence built in 1992 exhibiting an eclectic styling influenced by rustic vernacular architecture, as well as the Craftsman style. It is a log structure, 1.5-stories, with a rectangular footprint, a gable-front roof, and a concrete foundation. According to the property card, the lower story is "Log (not log over frame)". The upper story is of frame construction, and is clad in wood shingles, as is the shed dormer on the west elevation. The roof and shed dormer roof are clad with asphalt shingles. An attached single stall garage at the west side is clad with vertical wood board and batten. The primary facade faces north, with an above-grade entry, and a centered front door protected by the full width front porch created by the overhang of the upper story. The wrap-around overhang is supported by modern pressure-treated square wooden posts. The front door is flanked by modern one-over-one lite windows. Dovetail corner notching is visible and the logs are square hewn. The overhang of the upper story wraps around the east and west corners of the facade. The east end shelters a stacked wood pile. The garage attaches to the house on the west, set back along the west elevation with an at-grade driveway, and has a stylized paneled sectional door. Asymmetrically placed in the shingled upper front-facing gable story are two one-over-one lite windows. The overhanging upper story wraps around the east corner of the facade and the east elevation, which is largely obscured by a screen of aspen and shrubbery. A modern window and a pair of side-hung glass doors are visible. The rear or south elevation could not be seen from the right-of-way. The west elevation contains a secondary entry, below grade and accessed by a shallow stairwell. This elevation contains a modern one-over-one lite window on the lower story, and a similar window is in the dormer above. The garage is attached at a point just below the dormer. The property is in excellent condition but is modern. MONTANA HISTORIC PROPERTY RECORD PAGE 3 History of Property Property Name: 118 E.
