Boulevard Trees:
Per the Bozeman City Forestry tree planting guidelines, No trees are to be located within 10’
of underground utilities. Additionally, northwestern energy is requiring us to maintain a 10’
utility easement along Beall and North 3rd and the utility easement cannot contain any trees.
With the utility requirements and existing sidewalks to remain, the street boulevard along
north 3rd does not have adequate space to maintain healthy large canopy trees. However, to
provide some trees to separate the facade of the building and the street, we are proposing
4 large canopy trees along Beall and 3 large canopy trees along North 3rd which will be planted
as close to the street boulevard as possible. Based on existing conditions with utilities,
easements, and existing sidewalks to remain, we feel that we have proposed the best solution
for tree planting. Please see the image below illustrating underground utilities and proposed
tree locations.
